Testing Fate Blog Tour: Interview with a vampire!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Testing Fate Blog Tour

Along the tour, there will be multiple stops with Interviews, character interviews, excerpts, reviews, and, of course, BIG GIVEAWAYS!!

Today is our stop for the Testing Fate blog tour and We have the pleasure of interviewing Vlad, the vampire! No.. not that one. But do not worry, this one is more...fun!

Andie: Hey Vlad! (I always wanted to interview a vampire called Vlad ^^) Thanks so much for agreeing to give us some inside info into your life! You’re a side character, but whenever you show up you always crack me up. You love to live, don’t you?
Vlad: It’s my pleasure to be here, Andie *grins, flashing a little fang just for you* The fact you’ve invited me here instead of my fellow story characters, says who the REAL star is, right? Sure, I could be sexy or swoony like Mason and Devlin, but it’s all about having a sense of humor. Anyone can have muscles *rolls eyes*

Andie: Describe yourself to someone who has never met you.
Vlad: I’m a vampire on a mission to STAND OUT and go down in history as one of the greats! Unfortunately, I haven’t quite figured out who I want to be now I’m immortal. *lets out a sigh and rakes fingers through my currently blond hair* I thought naming myself after Dracula would earn me popularity, but so far it hasn’t worked. Same with dressing like Edward Cullen. Someone told me sparkles were the new “in” with the ladies, but yeah. *shakes head* Having an identity crisis sucks. Do you have any suggestions? I saw someone on Facebook the other night mention someone called Spike. He sounds interesting.

Andie: Why did you decide to become a vampire? I know your brother didn't want you to become one.
Vlad: I wanted something more than the rut I was stuck in, and figured it would give my life more meaning. *shrugs shoulders* So far it’s the same—no respect, no girlfriend, and my apartment is lousy. I keep asking Devlin to hook me up, but he thinks I’m not ready. Personally, I think he’s just jealous of my style and flair.

Andie: Tell us something about yourself that we don’t learn in the books.
Vlad: I’m a romantic at heart. Underneath all the sophistication and sex appeal, is a vampire who wants a special someone to snuggle with. *leans forward, laying on the charm* Interested in a little one-on-one time with the Vladster, beautiful? *wiggles eyebrows*

Andie: You like to make an impression with your…uhm… extreme looks. When you walk into a room, what do you notice first? Second?
Vlad: I always notice what the person’s wearing. Like today, I wore my best threads just for you. *stands up and turns around slowly* Black leather pants, black t-shirt, and studded boots. Impressive, huh? Clothes say a lot about a person. Same with their smile. *flashes you another one* I like surrounding myself with positive people like me.

Andie: What is your most embarrassing moment?
Vlad: Pass. I don’t know if Devlin’s going to read this and the LAST thing I want is to give him more ammunition. My uncle gives me a hard enough time as it is. Let’s just say it involved a chicken, tequila laced blood, and a mariachi band. Enough said.

Andie: What is one strong memory that has stuck with you from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
Vlad:  I remember reading Dracula in school, and thinking how cool it’d be to have that kind of power and immortality. I was a nobody back then, bullied by the popular kids, and something told me being supernatural would make me someone … make me better. It was powerful enough that I’m now a vampire. Give me time, and it’ll be ME everyone talks about. It’s already begun *winks*

Andie: How’s your relationship with Darcy and her pack?
Vlad: It’s pretty good. Darcy’s a real sweetheart, and we’ve had some great conversations. Secretly, I think I’m one of her favorites. She listens to my advice, and appreciates my sense of humor. Her mate, Mason … well, I think he just tolerates me. That’s okay, I’ve got plenty of time to win him over.

Andie: I know you don’t want to spend eternity alone, and you’re trying to find a girl. So, here’s your chance, there are lots of girls in our audience. So what would you write in a Date ad? Just be yourself.
Vlad:  How about one of my head shots with the words: Available to rock your world and introduce you to the seductive dark side of life. Immortality optional. Biting a MUST.

Andie: What is next? What is going on with you at the moment? Will we get more of you in Testing Fate? I hope so!!
Vlad: I’m just chillin’, trying to find the right career path for me. Eternity’s a long time when you have no purpose. *stretches legs out* You don’t see me in Testing Fate … I know, annoyed me, too. For some reason the author thought it should be all about Darcy and Mason *shakes head, frustrated* I had to sit her down and explain that my fans want more of me, not just the hunky beefcakes. We’ll see what happens in Forever Changed. Belinda promised me some major page time. I don’t know, she can be pretty shifty sometimes, though. I can never tell if she’s serious or teasing me.

Andie: Is there anything else that you'd like to add before we end?
Vlad: Yes, what time do I pick you up this Friday? *leans in to grab your hand, and slips off the chair* Damn, sorry. These leather pants take some getting used to. What was I saying? *tries to hide embarrassment* Ahhh, yes … a date. What do you say?

Andie: Thank you so much for stopping by and answering ALL of my questions! It was fun. I hope we will meet again…soon ;)
Vlad: Most definitely. Thank you for asking me. *kisses back of hand* You’ve been sweet.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this insight into Vlad's life. I know I did.

Vampirerotique Winter Book Tour: Character Interview + Giveaway

Interview with the sexy incubus-vampire

 from Bewitch by Felicity Heaton

Hey hey hey Everyone!

I have Felicity Heaton here today and she's brought a very special guest from Bewitch with her for an interview.

Plus, Felicity has something to offer up as a giveaway for a lucky winner here on the blog AND a fantabulous Amazon GC and fantastic book goodies tour wide giveaway to enter! So be sure to follow the tour carefully!

I'd like to say a big thank you to Felicity for letting me be part of this tour! So, I won't leave you guys hanging anymore...It´s time for me to stop talking, and give the word to our guests instead. Felicity, The word is yours!

Thank you for having me here today at The Secret Sanctuary of Books as part of my Vampirerotique Winter Tour celebrating the series and my latest release, Bewitch.

Today, I’ll be talking to the hero of the fifth book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series, the oh-so-sexy vampire, Payne.

Payne was the second of the new recruits that show up in Antoine’s book, Seduce. Payne is an elite vampire and the ultimate man of mystery. Dark and brooding, he keeps his distance from everyone and keeps to himself. He isn’t interested in connecting with people and does all he can to keep his name clean so no one will probe into his personal life.

A man with secrets almost as dark as Antoine’s, Payne is challenged every day at the theatre and finds it difficult to work there, despite his casual and unaffected air. Having had his heart broken once, he has done his best to stay away from females and keep his hungers under control, but when he needed to work with a witch to help a friend, Payne faced his biggest challenge yet.

Read on to find out more about Payne from the vampire himself.

FH: I’ve managed to get Payne here with me today to talk about his book, Bewitch. You must be in a good mood as you’ve been very helpful with this tour. Enjoying being the centre of attention for a change?

PAYNE: Not really... Elissa threatened to deprive me of sex for a day if I misbehaved and refused to talk to people.

FH: Sex deprivation for a whole day probably sounds quite cushy but considering your nature, and how hot you are for her, it’s probably akin to a year of torture. Let’s kick things off by talking more about you. Tell us a little about yourself.

PAYNE: *scrubs a hand over his blond spikes* I’m guessing people probably know a few things about me already, like the fact that I’m not one hundred percent vampire. I was born to an elite family a few centuries back, but I have incubus genes too. It’s not something I like to talk about, but I’m learning to accept that it’s part of who I am. I’ve been working at Vampirerotique, a theatre in London that caters exclusively to a vampire crowd, for a few months now and I figured I would hate the place because it deals in erotic shows, but I’ve taken a liking to the place, and the people.

FH: They’re a close-knit bunch at Vampirerotique. Like a family. In Bewitch, you meet Elissa. How did you meet and how did you feel about her initially?

PAYNE: Ah... just the sound of her name makes me... well, you get the picture. I swear I’m worse now than I was before I became a mated male. I’m sure you’re picturing dirty shit right about now. Pervert. *grins*

FH: I wasn’t, actually. You’re the pervert. Now answer the question about Elissa.

PAYNE: There it is again... the name of my wicked witch. To be honest, I wanted nothing to do with her when I saved her fine arse back in that fae town. I knew she was trouble the second I realised I couldn’t control her. I wasn’t looking for a mate, not after the crap I’ve been through, but my fae sucks and I figured I could use her to find out where I was supposed to go to meet up with this contact I’d found. I wanted to help Chica by finding her a way out of her little problem. Not sure I can talk too much about that... too... what’s that word you said to me before we started? You told me not to get too...

FH: Spoilerish. *he grins at me like I’m an idiot* It’s a perfectly good made up word. No, best we don’t go into details about Chica and her problem. So you weren’t really into Elissa at first. You certainly changed your tune though.

PAYNE: *nods* It’s hard to resist her when she turns on the wicked witch routine. She’s one fiery woman. *stares into the distance*

FH: *snaps her fingers* Come back before your eyes do that gold and blue thing, and I start wriggling on my seat. I warned you about turning on the charm before, remember? Elissa might be able to resist it, but the rest of us can’t. Now, I have a few questions that Andrea really wanted answered too and I’ve vetted them. I’m sure you’ll like them. She would like to know what were your first impressions of the guys at Vampirerotique?

PAYNE: *scrubs his hair again* You know they’ll read this shit and I’ll get into trouble if I say something they don’t like... but... well, I knew Callum from a long time ago. I met him shortly after a dark phase in my life. His family knew mine and we got along okay, and he never bothered me by asking about things I didn’t want to speak about. Shortly after that, his family moved away, but we stayed in touch. He helped me through some bad stuff, so I felt I had to help him out when he asked me. I have not seen much of Callum but I expected that. I thought perhaps I would be able to spend most of my time alone, in solitude, only coming out when needed to scout for performers. That part of the job I can do easily enough with only minimal trouble.

FH: You’re talking about controlling that part of your nature you would rather not have? The incubus part.

PAYNE: It is more difficult when I’m here at the theatre and someone wants me to go backstage, or be around the practices, or things like that. Since the arrival of the succubus, and the owners of the theatre coming to know more about me, I have been more relaxed. Antoine no longer asks me to oversee the practices when he’s busy. I’m grateful for that.

FH: You’ve made other friends too though. You and Andreu seem to have grown close.

PAYNE: Andreu is a good man. He’s a fool for falling in love with a succubus, but she seems to have eyes only for him too, so I have no need to kill her for hurting him.

FH: Spoken like a true friend. Hurt my buddy and I’ll rip out your heart and feed it to you. What about the others?

PAYNE: Javier is good. I get along well with him now. Antoine can be difficult, but the guy has a lot on his plate, especially at the moment. I think I royally screwed things up with Snow though...

FH: Snow will get over it and everything will be cool again, I’m sure of it. Andrea also wants to know, and I quote “Seriously, what do you do on a regular day basis? I know you're kinda occupied with Elissa and Luca, but what does your typical day looks like? You can go into details, it's a blog for adults, just sayin'”

PAYNE: *smiles and my knees go a bit weak* Use your imagination. Seriously, most of the time I’m either working with Callum on the performers and the shows, or I’m fooling about with Luca. He keeps me really busy. The rest of the time, my wicked witch is the one keeping me busy. She has an appetite, and so do I. I can’t get enough of her.

FH: Now that we’ve seen that you’re capable of smiling, I have to ask you one of Andrea’s other questions. She says, “You don't smile often, let alone laugh... so, what does have the power to make you laugh, other than your new family?”

PAYNE: Ah... this’ll be a major turn off but I’m a bit of a schadenfreude.

FH: Meaning you take pleasure from other people’s misfortune.

PAYNE: *nods* Twisted, I know... I’m one of those people who can’t help but laugh if someone falls over or bad shit happens. Not my best quality, but I can’t help it. Laugh first, ask if they’re all right later.

FH: I know that quality well. I have a tendency to do the same. My husband likes to remind me what I am whenever I snigger if someone trips and does that embarrassing stagger-recover in the street.

PAYNE: You’re married? A mated female... I never knew. I’ll watch my incubus around you more now. We mated people have to stick together.

FH: You’re certainly taking to the role of mated male and family man. Andrea has one more question. Quick, you get one wish! What did you wish for?

PAYNE: *shrugs* Nothing. I have everything I want.

FH: You’re so damn sweet sometimes. *he growls* Not falling for it. So how has life been since you and Elissa got together, and will we be seeing more of you in the rest of the series?

PAYNE: It’s been great. Rocky at times but Elissa is wonderful. I’m blessed to have her, even when she drives me insane. She’s become integral to my life now. I couldn’t imagine a world without her and I’m glad she stuck with me, and gave me a shot. Not many women would. Elissa is special and even when I’m being difficult, she’s there for me, talking me down and telling me that she loves me. Ah, now I sound like a pansy. As for the rest of the series, you’ll see me around.

FH: Describe yourself in one word?

PAYNE: Irresistible.

FH: Really? Are you certain that shouldn’t be incorrigible, or irritating, or moody?

PAYNE: Nope. Irresistible... I’m sticking with that one. *grins*

FH: This mated thing suits you. You’re much easier to talk to now. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. I’ll let you get back to your lady and your lad now, and prepare myself to speak with her.

All Roads Lead To Hell Blog Tour: Character Interview with Elias & Giveaway

Hey guys! Today I'm delighted to be helping Gracen Miller celebrate the upcoming release of the third and final installment of Madison's journey in the Road To Hell series and being the co-host of the tour with the firls at Tsk Tsk What to Read. This tour will feature a variety of posts and various blogs with posts ranging from spoiler free reviews, author interviews, guest posts, character interviews and more. Please be sure to follow the entire tour.

ALSO….On Day one (which was yesterday) Gracen kicked off the tour with a fun interactive activity.

Here is what she is doing…(The contest is no longer open, but the game is still fun ;))

--A Day in The Life of Madison is a Choose Your Own Adventure kind of game on Gracen's blog. After reading an excerpt, the reader faces two options, each of which leads to more excerpts and options and then to one of three endings.

The story follows Madison's journey through the series up until the beginning of Genesis Queen. The participants have to live her life, make decisions that will have consequences and determine the main character's actions and the plot's outcome. We’ve set the scene, the rest is up to you
--

On day two, I have a special giveaway AND I've got the chance again to interview the irresistible King of Hell, Elias! He didn't make it easy, though. So, I won't leave you guys hanging anymore. Continue on to read his answers to my nosy interview questions, an excerpt from Genesis Queen and don't forget to enter the giveaways!

Andie: Hey, my sexy, scary King! *winks at him* It’s nice to see you again. How are you doing? It's been quite a while.
Elias: *grins, while reclining in his seat* You’re looking particularly delectable today. What is the name of that perfume you’re wearing?
Andie: Why, thank you. I don’t wear any. This is my natural scent… okay maybe that and my new shower gel. Like it?
Elias: Smells divine.

Andie: I’m guessing we’re in the human realm – precisely my house which is surrounded by angel locks - this time and not in Hell, because your bro is still pretty mad at you after what you did in Genesis Queen?
Elias: *leaps to his feet and snatches Andie out of her chair* Disband the goddamn Angel Locks immediately! *his talons indent the skin of her upper arms as his eyes began to glow with fire*
Andie: *pats Elias’ arm* Easy big boy, I was just testing your awareness. I don’t want anyone to catch you. But You’re going to need to loosen up a bit for this interview. Now, could you let me go? Please!
Elias: *releases Andie long enough to fist her hair* Are you saying there are no Angel Locks and you were just screwing with me? *slides a talon along her cheek as his eyes glint dangerously* I dislike being toyed with. Immensely.
Andie: Well, I wouldn’t phrase it that way. But no, no Angel Locks.
Elias: Wise mortal. *returns Andie to her chair*

Andie: Thank you. Do you miss him? Did you regret anything?
Elias: *settles into his seat once more* It’s unfortunate things had to progress the way they did, but I do not regret my actions. If given the same choice, I’d make the same decision. The fault can be laid at Madison’s feet. *shrugs* Isn’t she always to blame? I won’t pretend to deny I didn’t enjoy—*clears throat* That’s best saved for the book, eh? We’re archangels, we’ve lived millennia. This is not the first quarrel we’ve endured. Micah will come around.

Andie: Damn, I envy you guys. I understand why he is mad, but I still owe you a “Thank You” card or something. You always make things more interesting. Although the majority of readers consider you as purely evil, and hate you now even more. Why do you think is that? Are you seeing yourself as an –not my words– evil son-of-a-bitch?
Elias: I take thank yous in the form of sex or torture, but no cards. *ponders Andie as his talons swish along the arm of the chair* I do not understand his anger. We’d agreed to do anything and he reneged on our deal. He’s lost his edge thanks to that uptight princess of his. *takes a deep calming breath* Why should I care if anyone hates me? Hmm…I guess I am an evil son-of-a-bitch, but Father’s not lifted one hand to halt my behavior, so maybe that makes him a trifle evil as well. What do you think, Andrea?
Andie: I don’t think you will ever understand his reasons, not until you fall in love. I know, I know… it will never happen. Also, I know you don’t care what the others said, I didn’t say you should, I was just curious about how you see yourself. As for your father, I think you have a point.
Elias: As you should see my point.

Andie: Were you ever a double-crosser? *smirks*
Elias: Not to my brothers, but to mortals…I guess you could say I’ve double-crossed many. It’s not my fault they didn’t read the fine print of our covenant.
Andie: Yeah, the small prints…
Elias: The devil is in the details. *winks*

Andie: Uh huh… Just out of curiosity, on a scale of 1-10, how often do you lie?
Elias: Never, so that’d be a zero.
Andie: Now, I can’t stop thinking about how should I know if you’re telling the truth…
Elias: Easy. I always tell the truth.

Andie: *rolls eyes*After everything that happened in GQ, how do you see your future? You weren’t exactly a good guy – not that if you would be anyway, but some would say you overstepped the line this time.
Elias: My future is the same as it always has been. I’m one of the Kings of Hell. That will not alter in the future. I did not overstep the line, but rather I took the hard actions Micah was too pansy-assed to implement. *makes a disgusted face* I should receive a medal or some accommodation.
Andie: That’s what I said. No one listened. *shakes head*

Andie: I’m lobbying for your book, but I’m sure you know that, so please, could you just stop making it even harder for me to convince Gracen and her hellhounds, that you deserve one?
Elias: *flashes a wicked grin* Thank you for lobbying for me. As for Gracen, she will do as she’s told. Dom’s got her well under control.
Andie: I hope so *smiles*
Elias: *nudges his foot against yours* Trust me.

Andie: Do you think redemption is possible for you? Because they say that’s the only way to get you your own book. What would you want to see in it? Can you see a possible romance? *winks*
Elias: Who the hell said I needed redemption? *shakes head and mutters about ‘pretentious, judgmental mortals’* What would I like to see in my book? Hmm…*taps his chin and thinks for a moment* For starters, I’d like to see torture, sex, pain, more torture. I think that’d make for a bestseller. What about you?
Andie: Who said you needed redemption? Like… everyone. What would I like to see? I’m good with what you mentioned, throw a good amount of fight scenes in and we’re good to go. *mutters under her breath really quietly* And maybe a little romance too. But I would be fine with the whole story about this rebellion from your perspective. I just want you to be the lead character.
Elias: No one’s opinion matters but my own. And I say I do not need redeeming. My father was wrong in what he asked of us. Can you imagine being a child forever? Always being told what to do, how to behave, and what your reactions should be? Your opinions, thoughts, and wants never mattering to your parent? Never being adult enough to make your own decisions? That was how Father treated us. Our rebellion is justified. But I digress…*makes a circular motion with his hand for Andie to continue* Proceed with your questions.

Andie: Fine. Most of the readers think you can’t love anyone. I know you do love your twin, more than anyone. Would you actually die for him?
Elias: Love…*snorts* I would die for my brother.
Andie: Isn’t that love?
Elias: *shrugs* Semantics, I suppose. I call it devotion, loyalty and respect. My affections for my brother don’t weaken me the way love does.

Andie: Could you kill your brother?
Elias: Why would I want to? *makes a face* Simple answer is no.
Andie: No, I know you wouldn’t want to. I meant IF for some reason, it would come to a fight (to the death) between you and him, could you be able to deliver the killing blow? Just play along and let’s pretend It could happen.
Elias: *sighs, growing agitated by the repetitious question* I repeat…no. Micah is angry, yes, but regardless what you think, he’d never be able to deliver the killing blow, so, once again, why would I want to kill him?
Andie: Jesus Christ… *notices her mistake when Elias hisses* oops, sorry! I don’t know, it was just a theoretical question, but let’s move on.

Andie: Are you bored, want to torture and/or kill me (you are NOT allowed to do that!), or having fun with this interview? Either way, you still are going to have to answer a few questions. *chuckles*
Elias: *claws gouge the arm of the chair* Don’t get impudent with me, you feeble mortal. The things I could do to you…you’d break quickly. *leans forward and scraps a talon across Andie's forearm, opening up a gash on her skin* Unless you humans are sinning or screaming from my torture, I’m always bored with you. Only when your blood is flowing—*nods at  her arm*—am I amused.
Andie: So, you are amused now. It’s easy, but not really healthy to please you…
Elias: If I were easily amused, what would be the challenge in that?

Andie: You sooo have a point. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Elias: Even though I despise the princess, I’d do anything for her, because she’s our future.

Andie: *leans closer to Elias in her chair and whispers* What do you think of Gracen?
Elias: *leans forward, puts his lips to her ear and whispers back* She’s beneath me, why would I give her any thought?
Andie: Because you owe her. But that’s pretty much answered my question.
Elias: *laughs* The only ones I owe are my brothers, Micah, Lucifer and Raguel. No one else deserves such accolades.

Andie: Do you have any secret aspirations she doesn’t know about? I won’t tell her, promise.
Elias: *chucks her beneath the chin and he sits back in his seat* Andrea, darling, my aspirations are no secret. They are the same today as they were when we created Hell. All I want is mankind’s damnation and to remove them from Father’s salvation. I’d say we’re winning the war.
Andie: Aww man, here I thought I’m going to learn something, that not even she knows.

Andie: Is there anything else that you'd like to add before we end?
Elias: *retracts his claws* No.
Andie: Seriously? C’mon say something to your loyal fans.
Elias: *grasps Andie's wrist and holds her arm steady as he licks the blood from the wound he gave her* I’m into blood play. Care to participate?

Andie: I’m not really in the mood of donating blood, but you can continue the licking part, though. Anyway, that’s it. We’re done. It was fun… for me anyway. Thank you again for answering my nosy questions. Meeting with you is always a pleasure…when you can’t hurt me. And you can’t, because If you do, who will hold Gracen back from killing you off? *smirks* Now, go before Zenny finds us and beats the crap out of you. Hey, easy with the “shut up or I’m going to kill you” look. I’m just worried about you, that’s all.
Elias: *chuckles* Do you always ramble this much? Gracen will not kill me because she secretly adores me and Dom won’t allow it. *smirks back* And Zennyo Ryuo—Pfft. Not the threat you seem to think he is. No need to worry, I can handle myself. *pulls Andie out of her seat and settles her on his lap, so that she's straddling his thighs* Where’s my good bye kiss? And make it good enough I’ll be glad I wasted my time with this interview. *slow wicked grin*
Andie: *frowns*You should be at least a tiny bit grateful anyone wants to talk to you these days. Why do I like you again? And man! You and Dom are best buddies or what? I’m surprised a simple kiss could make you happy. And how could anything even make you be glad that you wasted–
Elias: I’m grateful to no one. *nips her bottom lip* Your mouth should be on mine, not moving with more rambling. And I never said a single kiss would suffice. *wraps an arm around her waist, the other hand cupping the back of her head…he pulls Andie snug against his body, so close his breath puffs on her face* I’m waiting…
Andie: * lets out a soft moan as she puts her mouth over * –

Book 3 in ROAD TO HELL series
Coming December 18, 2012 to Decadent Publishing and online e-book stores

Victory is hollow when fate maneuvers one as a pawn.

Madison’s mission is complete. Nix is rescued from Hell and her son safe from his dark destiny. But in the safe harbor of Nix’s love, her demonic husband warns of a murderous plot. Can she trust that it’s the truth and not another scheme to claim her for Hell’s throne?

Sometimes internal struggles can house our biggest demons.

With allies divided and prophecy heralding defeat, Madison gambles on Micah’s tenuous honor to keep their son protected. Torn between her heart’s desires and her dark requirements, Madison worries her hellish fate cannot be avoided. When betrayal comes from an unlikely direction, all their futures may be damned. In the darkest hour of Madison’s life, an undeniable providence will transpire. Who can she trust? And how far will she fall to defeat her foes?

Amid the rubble of defeat will Hell’s Genesis Queen dawn?

Genesis Queen Excerpt:

Nix located Mads in the kitchen. Bacon sizzled in the frying pan and grits were on a slow boil in a pot on the stove. She beat up a batch of pancake mix; at least he thought that was what she whipped up.
“How can you cook at a time like this?”
She did the most normal things at the weirdest moments.
“I’m not convinced this isn’t one of Micah’s attempts to bring me to heel.” She set the bowl aside and pulled out a griddle. “And cooking soothes me.”
God knew he loved her food. His belly grumbled in agreement. The way she moved as she prepared food was a thing of beauty, too. Watching her calmed him.
He handed over the photo Amos had drawn.
She wiped her hands on a kitchen towel before grasping the picture. After a long moment, she canted her face toward him. “What’s this?”
“Amos had a vision. Went glowy-eyed. That”—he nodded at the paper in her hand—“is the man he says is behind the attack.”
“An angel.” No question. A stated fact. Mads blew out a breath and leaned against the counter behind her. “He and Georgie hadn’t seen before….” She rubbed her eyes. “I thought Micah was lying. Like always.”
“He rarely lies.” The angel was painfully honest more often than not. It hurt to admit that even to himself. He wanted her to think of her husband as an unfeeling monster, but Nix’s relationship with Mads would always be built on honesty.
Her head snapped back. “Don’t defend him.”
“I’m not.” Not really, just stating the truth. He strode around the island and stepped in front of her. “We need him to help protect you both.”
“No.”
“Mads, baby….” He settled his weight against her. She adjusted her stance, widening her stride and granting him space between her thighs. His fingers slid through her hair, as her hands settled on his hips, her thumbs anchoring in his belt-loops. “I want you two as safe as I can get you. If accepting that bastard’s aid is going to keep you breathing, then we need it.”

The Book Waitress - Serving Up Evil Tour: Character Interview with Camille

She’s Quirky, She’s Awkward, She’s Shy… And She’s OURS! The Book Waitress Interview

Hello everyone, and welcome to the world premiere, live interview of Camille Dutton, otherwise known as The Book Waitress! I can tell she’s not too comfortable just as yet, since she’s fidgeting with her skirt and tapping her foot on the floor, but we’ll make her feel right at home with a nice cup of tea and a plate of delectable, chocolate confections.

ANDIE: Good day to you, Camille and thank you for agreeing to this interview today. Please have some tea and feel free to hoard the chocolate pastries I’ve plated up for you.
CAMILLE: You’re welcome. Thank you for having me. These chocolate croissants are to die for! Well, not really. One wouldn’t die from eating a chocolate croissant, unless one were choking on said croissant, in which case, that would be highly unlikely because so many people know how to do the Heimlich maneuver. But many people don’t know how to do it correctly and can wind up injuring the person even worse…

ANDIE: Ah, yes, well, shall we begin the interview then?
CAMILLE: *lowers her chin to her chest and shakes her head* Yes, why don’t we? My nerves aren’t going to go away any time soon, so you never know when random facts will spew forth again. Go ahead.

ANDIE: Camille, first I think we’d all like to know how you came to be called The Book Waitress. It’s such an unusual name.
CAMILLE: I used to waitress, for a very short time. Wasn’t very good at it. I’ve always had a love for books so decided to get my degree in Library Science. The longer I worked, the more I saw that still was a waitress, but I served up books rather than food. So I’ve called myself that ever since.

ANDIE: Well that’s just fabulous! Ha Ha! And tell us, what’s your favorite and least favorite part about being a Book Waitress?
CAMILLE: I love being around books. They tell us such wonderful tales and teach us so many things about the world. People, I can do without, frankly. I learn a lot from people watching, and every day, my distasted for the human race grows. I have a degree in Psychology, so I know human nature. Animals have got one up on a lot of us, I tell ya.

ANDIE: What’s your favorite section of the Library?
CAMILLE: I would have to say the fiction section. There’s nothing like escaping into another world for a while and forgetting your own. I can be a spy, a lover, an alien, anything the main characters can do, so can I, when I’m reading fiction.

ANDIE: Totally agree with you! Tell us, if you can, what’s been happening on Shelter Island lately.
CAMILLE: I came to the island a short while ago to fill in a vacant librarian’s spot and all I know is, strange things have been occurring that I can’t rightly explain. Books are flying off shelves, opening to particular pages on the floor, my co-workers are acting stranger than I know people do. I just am getting a very bad vibe from the whole situation. I honestly don’t know how long I will stay. I miss my home on the mainland. I miss my job back there. I would just like to go back to anonymity as soon as possible.

ANDIE: The buzz is there’s a Satanic cult congregating on that island. Do you know anything about that?
CAMILLE: No, I don’t. But there’s a reporter who’s come to investigate the validity of the ‘buzz.’ His name is Derek Galloway, if you’re interested to learn more.

ANDIE: Thanks for that tip. I’ll look him up! Now onto a rapid fire question session where you answer with one word or a short phrase, and then you’re all done. Okay?
CAMILLE: Sure, fire away! Just don’t make them too hard. I’m not bulletproof. *laughs and snorts*

ANDIE: *smiles politely* Here we go!
Candlelight or lights on? Lights, it’s hard to see the lies in the candlelight.
Beer or wine...or HARD liquor? A good heffeweisen is quite delicious.
On the beach or the mountains? The ocean soothes me.
Sweet or salty? Sweet and salty mixed together produces a nearly orgasmic experience for me
Map or GPS? I don’t need either of them. I don’t go anywhere.
Hard rock or smooth jazz? Classic rock
Truth or DARE? Truth. I get so little of it.
Down and dirty or sweet and sensual? Huh? You mean love-making? Well, if that were to ever happen, I think I’d like sweet and sensual sometimes and down and dirty other times.
Dinner and a movie or stay in and order take out? Stay in and order take-out. That’s what I do.

ANDIE: Camille, thank you so much for sharing a bit about yourself with us today. I hope you have a safe trip back to Shelter Island. Best of luck with your job and settling in.

CAMILLE: Thank you, Andie. It’s been an interesting experience talking with you today.

Camille Dutton learned early in life Satan was not to be trifled with. Escaping his evil clutches as a child, he’s come back with a vengeance for her now. Derek Galloway’s inquisitive nature has led him to be an award-winning investigative reporter and straight into the path of pure evil.

When a child vanishes from a sleepy island town, Camille, its subdued librarian, becomes embroiled in Derek’s investigation. A satanic cult has plans for the child, while Satan has plans for Camille and the rest of the world. Amidst evil of the most supernatural and human kind, Derek and Camille find a shred of light and goodness in the form of their budding relationship.

First in the Book Waitress Series, the portal between Hell and Earth will be torn asunder, and it will take everything Camille and Derek have and then some to close it. Satan won’t go down easy, but nothing worth everything ever comes without a price.
