Hunter's Moon - Vampire / Werewolf Romance Novel

Title: Hunter’s Moon
Author:  F.E. Heaton
Series: Vampires Realm #9
Released:  February 2011
The horror of the night he failed to save his werewolf pack from the cruelty of their vampire masters has haunted Nicolae for one hundred years, driving him deep into the Canadian wilderness in search of peace. That peace is threatened when unfamiliar hunters and the scent of blood lead him to a beautiful woman and a hard decision—face his past and help her or risk losing everyone he cares about again.

Bearing a heart filled with grief and with vengeance on her mind, Tatyana is intent on killing the hunters she’s tracking and returning to her vampire bloodline, but her plan didn’t include being shot with poisoned arrows or rescued by a glowering alpha werewolf who stirs forbidden hunger in her.

When the hunters make their move, will Nicolae be able to stop them before it’s too late? Will he be able to overcome the darkness in his heart and embrace his desire for a vampire? And can Tatyana face her fears and risk her life for the sake of forbidden love?

SO LET’S START THE REVIEW:

Hunter’s Moon by F.E. Heaton is the 9th book in her Vampire Realm series but you don’t have to read the other books to understand what’s happening in this one (i haven’t read them either yet). It is a story about two natural enemies, a werewolf and a vampire falling in love. Altough I don’t really like stories about shifters, weres, I Loved this one. Oh and I love the cover (pretty sure, I’m not the only one… You can guess why.. yes yes.. The Moon, I Love the Moon... :P)

The beginning of the book is really exciting. We learn some things about our Werewolf, Nicolae, but really interesting ones, like about his relationship with the local timber wolf pack. Also the hunters come into the scene early. After that, we don’t have to wait so much to find out about the vampire Tatyana. She was deadly wounded by the hunters, but against his every hate for her kind, Nicolae couldn’t bring himself to leave her die there, so He took her to his home to heal her and get answers about the Hunters. After some pages we are going to learn more about Tatyana as she woke up in the werewolf’s house.

Since i’m more of an action type of reader, usually i just want to get to the dialogue, the actions and skip the too much descriptions… I haven’t problem in this here, because there are descriptions as much as a reader needs, neither more nor less. There’s no too much, too early. We learn something new in each chapter about the characters or how their world works. The dialogue was interesting, realistic, smart and effective.

As for the sexual content of the story, we have to work hard to get to the sex scene, and even then it goes slowly, it’s sweet and soft. This book had great sexual build up. The constantly grewing attraction bring to us passionate scenes when they near by the other, even when there are just unsaid thoughts in their heads and they don’t touch eachother. And no, it’s not annoying… In some books I screaming “just go to the bedroom NOW, damn it!! ” but here these scenes are so powerful even with no-sex, not even with a kiss.

Let’s talk about the characters:

Characters are well developed and life-like.

Starting with Nicolae… He is tough and strong, not just phisically, but emotionally too. The guy has been through hell and he’s come back stronger. Nicolae is sexy, damaged and definitely interesting. Could be an awesome alpha. Altough his hatred of the vamps in his deep, his not a jerk with the girl at first place, He just keeps distance from Her, but after they getting talking about their past it’ll change.

Tatyana is desperately trying to prove to her bloodline and everyones around her that she’s not weak. As we’re getting to know her better, we’ll see she’s actually a really strong woman. With this and her desire to help others she is a very likeable vampire. She is on a mission, She left her home to take a revenge. They both have weaknesses and strength.

The Hunters are interesting parts of the story. In the beginning we’re learn that they after Tatyana, but as we know later from the vampire, She is went after Them. But then what the bloody hell are they really after and why? Now this is an interesting turn point:)

Now let’s make a short list about “What i liked / didn’t like”

What I liked:

- Just enough Description
- We don’t have to wait so long for the exciting action parts
- The characters were realistic. Not egoist, not helpless, they were strong enough.
- Nicolae’s connection to the timber wolf pack and his relationship with the local werewolf pack
- Good, smart dilogue
- increasingly, but not annoying attraction between the Main characters
- Oh and Of course I loved the parts about Hungary XD

What I didn’t like:

The last Fight was a little rush and less exciting than Tatyana’s fight with the ww alpha…

Overall: I would love to read how their story continues, even it wasn’t cliffhanger in the end. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Romance, action filled stories, Everyone who loves / doesn’t love werevolves, vampires equally, because this is nothing like the usual.
