She’s Quirky, She’s Awkward, She’s Shy… And She’s OURS! The Book Waitress Interview
Hello everyone, and welcome to the world premiere, live interview of Camille Dutton, otherwise known as The Book Waitress! I can tell she’s not too comfortable just as yet, since she’s fidgeting with her skirt and tapping her foot on the floor, but we’ll make her feel right at home with a nice cup of tea and a plate of delectable, chocolate confections.
ANDIE: Good day to you, Camille and thank you for agreeing to this interview today. Please have some tea and feel free to hoard the chocolate pastries I’ve plated up for you.
CAMILLE: You’re welcome. Thank you for having me. These chocolate croissants are to die for! Well, not really. One wouldn’t die from eating a chocolate croissant, unless one were choking on said croissant, in which case, that would be highly unlikely because so many people know how to do the Heimlich maneuver. But many people don’t know how to do it correctly and can wind up injuring the person even worse…
ANDIE: Ah, yes, well, shall we begin the interview then?
CAMILLE: *lowers her chin to her chest and shakes her head* Yes, why don’t we? My nerves aren’t going to go away any time soon, so you never know when random facts will spew forth again. Go ahead.
ANDIE: Camille, first I think we’d all like to know how you came to be called The Book Waitress. It’s such an unusual name.
CAMILLE: I used to waitress, for a very short time. Wasn’t very good at it. I’ve always had a love for books so decided to get my degree in Library Science. The longer I worked, the more I saw that still was a waitress, but I served up books rather than food. So I’ve called myself that ever since.
ANDIE: Well that’s just fabulous! Ha Ha! And tell us, what’s your favorite and least favorite part about being a Book Waitress?
CAMILLE: I love being around books. They tell us such wonderful tales and teach us so many things about the world. People, I can do without, frankly. I learn a lot from people watching, and every day, my distasted for the human race grows. I have a degree in Psychology, so I know human nature. Animals have got one up on a lot of us, I tell ya.
ANDIE: What’s your favorite section of the Library?
CAMILLE: I would have to say the fiction section. There’s nothing like escaping into another world for a while and forgetting your own. I can be a spy, a lover, an alien, anything the main characters can do, so can I, when I’m reading fiction.
ANDIE: Totally agree with you! Tell us, if you can, what’s been happening on Shelter Island lately.
CAMILLE: I came to the island a short while ago to fill in a vacant librarian’s spot and all I know is, strange things have been occurring that I can’t rightly explain. Books are flying off shelves, opening to particular pages on the floor, my co-workers are acting stranger than I know people do. I just am getting a very bad vibe from the whole situation. I honestly don’t know how long I will stay. I miss my home on the mainland. I miss my job back there. I would just like to go back to anonymity as soon as possible.
ANDIE: The buzz is there’s a Satanic cult congregating on that island. Do you know anything about that?
CAMILLE: No, I don’t. But there’s a reporter who’s come to investigate the validity of the ‘buzz.’ His name is Derek Galloway, if you’re interested to learn more.
ANDIE: Thanks for that tip. I’ll look him up! Now onto a rapid fire question session where you answer with one word or a short phrase, and then you’re all done. Okay?
CAMILLE: Sure, fire away! Just don’t make them too hard. I’m not bulletproof. *laughs and snorts*
ANDIE: *smiles politely* Here we go!
Candlelight or lights on? Lights, it’s hard to see the lies in the candlelight.
Beer or wine...or HARD liquor? A good heffeweisen is quite delicious.
On the beach or the mountains? The ocean soothes me.
Sweet or salty? Sweet and salty mixed together produces a nearly orgasmic experience for me
Map or GPS? I don’t need either of them. I don’t go anywhere.
Hard rock or smooth jazz? Classic rock
Truth or DARE? Truth. I get so little of it.
Down and dirty or sweet and sensual? Huh? You mean love-making? Well, if that were to ever happen, I think I’d like sweet and sensual sometimes and down and dirty other times.
Dinner and a movie or stay in and order take out? Stay in and order take-out. That’s what I do.
ANDIE: Camille, thank you so much for sharing a bit about yourself with us today. I hope you have a safe trip back to Shelter Island. Best of luck with your job and settling in.
CAMILLE: Thank you, Andie. It’s been an interesting experience talking with you today.

Camille Dutton learned early in life Satan was not to be trifled with. Escaping his evil clutches as a child, he’s come back with a vengeance for her now. Derek Galloway’s inquisitive nature has led him to be an award-winning investigative reporter and straight into the path of pure evil.
When a child vanishes from a sleepy island town, Camille, its subdued librarian, becomes embroiled in Derek’s investigation. A satanic cult has plans for the child, while Satan has plans for Camille and the rest of the world. Amidst evil of the most supernatural and human kind, Derek and Camille find a shred of light and goodness in the form of their budding relationship.
First in the Book Waitress Series, the portal between Hell and Earth will be torn asunder, and it will take everything Camille and Derek have and then some to close it. Satan won’t go down easy, but nothing worth everything ever comes without a price.
