Anyway, I'm here to tell you a little more about Devil Du Jour, book two in the Book Waitress series by the amazing Deena Remiel. So yes, that means you're here to read my awesome review ;P (and to collect the next letter - see at the end of the post - to win the $20 gift card prize)

So let's see what Camille's been up to in the second book...

The Book Waitress, Camille Dutton, has luck on her side. Good and bad. On the upside, she narrowly escaped death and Satan claiming her soul. On the downside, a portal has been opened, and she can feel every time a creature from Hell crosses over to our world.
Derek Galloway is one tenacious man. His curious nature won’t let him rest until he closes Hell’s portal and finds a cure for Camille’s affliction. Satan will have one helluva fight on his hands if he tries to claim her again.

Camille and Derek, an unlikely couple, have found each other in the darkest of times. Will they find the answers they need to free her and the world from Satan’s grip? Or are they in for the longest, darkest battle of their lives?

My Thoughts:

First, let me tell you that I'm in the Acknowledgements which starting with this: "First, I’d like to thank Satan." Because it's common knowledge that I am the Satan! So very welcome Deena, Haha! Okay, be serious now! No way...

Devil Du Jour picks up exactly where the The Book Waitress leaves off, which was a cruel cliffhanger, by the way. Hell's gates are open and all kinds of creatures are invading into our world. Camille and Derek are determined to close the gates. I tell you quite frankly, in the battle between them and Satan - I don't know about you guys, but I would bet my money on Satan. I mean neither Cam nor Derek were the kinda "warrior souls" who I would feel safe with if I'd ever go against the King of Damnation, you know. But of course they're not superheroes. They want to end Camille's suffering and that's all. They don't want to save the cheerleader the world.

What I liked the most in this book are the various POV changes. It's not just between the hero, heroine and the villain... we get a glimpse of what's happening with some of the possessed humans. Mostly they're collecting souls for the Dark Lord a.k.a. Satan by killing innocent people.  I loved to actually see that and not just learn about it from Cam's or Derek's POV. Brilliant!

The story is a bit slow for me. There's a few scene/conversation between the characters that felt kinda unnecessary to me. And research. I like to knwo more about the behind the scenes and the world, but not if it means it's at the expense of the journey. I mean getting from A to B point without feeling dragged. It should be flowing smoothly. However both Cam and Derek changed a lot - in a good way - through the book. They became stronger, funnier - of course there was a few time I wanted to punch Camille in the face to wake her up :P-, but still I enjoyed what the demons were up to a bit more.

I really liked that her marks light up.I think that's actually freaking cool, but I don't envy the pain it comes with. Poor girl! Oh and I love her "armor"! ;)

The ending is needless to say a big f*cking cliffhanger!! I'm sooo mad because I'm waiting for the climax, I want to know how they will manage to close the gate, although they already know what they need for that, but still. And why the heck Satan wants her so badly I have absolutely no idea! I love a good mystery but c'mon, I NEED to know the end! LOL

Anyway, actually this was better than the Book Waitress, much more information, characters, better character developments and some pretty funny scenes. So if you loved the first book, you're going to definitely adore this one. :)
