Mourning her loss, Stone becomes the black sheep among his peers by focusing on the welfare of his people.

While survival and freedom hang in the balance...

Starting over under an assumed name, Kella is a founding member of the X-Diplomats, a radical group dedicated to stopping enforced X-gene testing and promoting equal rights for commoners. Review - Royal Parnerships by Gracen Miller

There's a new nightmare of the Road to Hell!

One of my absolute favorite series, namely Gracen Miller's Road To Hell series is back with a new chapter. The FOURTH book titled Royal Parnerships is now officially OUT ! And I'm here to review it... or something like that. For those who are too lazy to read my review, let me sum it up quickly: I FREAKIN' LOVED IT, and don't you even think about passing it up.

Are you ready for the ride?
Can you handle the ride?

It’s good to be the Queen…

Having ascended the throne of Hell, Madison Wescott is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. Though she has embraced her demonic nature, she has ensured the safety of everyone she loves. With both Micah and Nix at her side, she wields more power than she could have ever imagined.

But not even the throne is safe when you rule in Hell.

In the wake of a failed assassination attempt, Madison learns about a realm of the damned older than Hell itself. A fierce and powerful incubus vows to escape his imprisonment there — and his efforts are weakening the bonds that hold him and countless other monsters at bay. With no plan and nowhere else to turn, Madison contacts an unlikely source for help. But whose side is he really on? Will he help preserve her reign, or bring about Hell’s downfall?

Choose your partnerships carefully…

Amid the rubble of defeat will Hell’s Genesis Queen dawn?

Title: Royal Partnerships
Author: Gracen Miller
Series: Road To Hell #4
Publication Date: June 11th 2015

I'd like to send a message for Gracen before I start the review:

Seriously, I know how underrated this series is and it doesn't get the attention it deserves, so THANK YOU for not giving up on it thus making my life a little bit better.

Royal Parnerships is operating as a bridge between the original trilogy and the upcoming spin-off books (Zen & Elias -if we live long enough to see these :P). It provides closure as well as sets up new storylines. Also this might be the last book with mostly Madison's narrating, I'm pretty sure she will get some chapters in the later books too. Mads just showed her darker side in RP and not everyone is perfectly fine with it (*glares at Nix*). I feel a great disturbance in the Mic-Mad-Nix force, but I guess we just have to wait and see.

RP starts a little bit slow, bringing us up to date with our favorite hellish crew's life. Mostly it's about Madison's choice at the end of Genesis Queen and how others (like Nix's jackass family) deal with that. Also the old epilogue from GQ have been moved to as one of the plotlines in RP, clearing things up a bit (at least for me), but nothing new. However, this is only the first half of the book. The second half brings a helluva lot more exciting shit to the table.

First of all, there are new enemies. Some Angel just can't sit on their asses and are out for Madison's blood and they're bringing the big guns. Meaning: awesome new characters. A trio of total badassness, though I wouldn't have mind to see them in more action. And then there's a secret weapon, a new creature, basically the Ace in the deck which could be Madison's downfall. Whoever holds it has a serious advantage. Besides the Angels and their backup, Madison has to deal with one more enemy. A freakishly powerful demon who wants to unleash himself and his buddies on the world, and if you thought Micah's apocalypse plan was the worst thing that could happen to humans, well... let's just say this would be way worse.

But as good old Hippocrates said: "For extreme diseases, extreme methods of cure, as to restriction, are most suitable." So Madison has to battle with her own self and her lovers, too, to do what must be done, to ask and accept the help of those none of them trust. Which brings us some very interesting and intense family reunions. And above all this, there's still an unnerving prophecy about someone close to her betraying her and at this point, it could be her mentor, friend and adopted brother, Zen, or even one of her lovers.

What made me love this book was that it was a perfect bridge between two era. It didn't feel like a waste of time, paper or money because it really gives the fans what they would expect from a novel like this. The characters, and along with them the story is moving forward, evolving and becoming bigger, better and more complex. I loved seeing Madison's bad side and that she finally acted like a total boss, a true Queen of Hell. We got to see more depth of some characters which helps us see their action more clearly and could even help to understand them more.  I waited for so long for this book and I was anything but disappointed. I was excited, captivated, amazed, impressed and freaking happy (mostly for a certain character's return). The only bad thing about this book was that it was far too short and ended it on a cliffhanger! This series is TORTURE... like.."No one in the history of torture's been tortured with torture like the torture I am tortured with."

Royal Partnerships Excerpt:

“Collecting and torturing a soul is dangerous business, my sister,” Zen said.

“So was becoming Queen of Hell. What’s problematic about going with the flow?”

More of the same unblinking stare from him. “If you go rogue, Madison…”

Madison slammed against the window-wall behind her. Despite the pane’s solidness, she felt it shimmy when it received the brunt of her weight. Recognizing Zen’s new demonstration of power, she elevated her eyebrows at him. With a smirk, she rubbed her back against the glass. She palmed her dragon blade as she flung a ninja star. He leaned to the side, dodging the star with ease. Of course she missed.

“You can’t kill me.”

Only his creator could take him down.

Madison palmed her other dagger and eased away from the window. “Is this you coming for me, Zen?”

His one-shoulder shrug sufficed as an answer. The pounding on the door, followed by Nix and Micah’s yelling further answered her question. Zen had magically locked them out. That’d been why she saw his power flare for a brief second during their conversation.

She went for him. He blocked each jab and slash. Every kick and punch. She eyed him as they circled one another.

He toys with us, her demon remarked.

Of course he does, that was Zen’s way when they sparred.

“Have I not taught you anything?” He smacked her across the cheek in a whip-like move she hadn’t seen coming. It wasn’t hard enough to hurt, but the blow stung all the same. “You tire yourself knowing I’m the superior fighter. It’s like you sacrifice yourself to me. Too easy.”

They went at it again. She tripped over a rug, stumbled backward, and came up dead-footed with her spine against the windowpanes. He moved into her space. Eye- to-eye they stared at one another, her panting the only racket in the room.

“So this is how it all ends?” she asked as he elevated a hand and braced it against the glass next to her head.

“Maybe...”

The door practically throbbed from all the kicking, pounding, and magic thrown at it. “You’re scaring my men.”

“They should be terrified.”

Madison settled her hand on his arm. “I trust you.”

She chugged his magic harder than she ever had anyone’s, and screamed as pain slashed through her head. Zen’s eyes widened, silver bright, and he jerked away as his magic held strong, barring her husbands from the room.

Zen stumbled, his footing off, and he swayed a moment before going to a knee. Wincing as the pain receded, Madison circled him and secured her blade in its leather holster.

She threaded her fingers in his hair and pulled his head back. His shallow breathing surprised her, “Concede defeat?”

Review - A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beast with faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

Title:  A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series:  A Court of Thorns and Roses #1
Length: 432 pages
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA
Publication Date: May 5th, 2015

“We need hope, or else we cannot endure.”

ACOTAR is loosely based on the Beauty and the Beast, so don't be surprised if you find a lot of similarities between the two. It's supposed to be that way. It also gives a nod to some other fairy tales and myths - the story of Hades & Persephone for example -. It's set in a medieval world where Fae and Humans are mostly enemies. However after the great war, there's been an agreement, a truce so to speak. Each race have their own lands and realm, and trying to stay out of each other's way, most of the time. But like with every war, there's always some rebel who want to conquer the other, not giving a crap about anything and anyone and will even destroy their own people to achieve their goals. This is the underlining plot of ACOTAR. Our heroes trying to stop the most dangerous and evil enemy they've ever faced before it destroys everything they hold dear.

Like I said at the beginning, it's kind of a retelling of B&B/original fantasy, meaning the main plot is obviously a romance similar to that. Only this time it's a Human and a Fae. While Tamlin, our Fae Romeo is able to shift into any animal, and meets Feyre the first time in a beast like form, Sarah actually switched the roles, and in ACOTAR our handsome "beast" lord is the one who's trying to melt his stubborn, wild human's heart. And I'm so freaking glad Sarah decided to make this a New Adult, instead of a YA, because we certainly got some sexy time.

Feyre is a serious badass even if she's not kicking every disgusting thing's in the balls, she still manages to survive - granted, she gets a lot of help most of the time she's about to be erased from existence-, she's holding her own pretty good. She's a strong, loyal, fierce and gutsy character. Definitely the perfect character for this story. A bit reckless, though but she has her own wits (still I can't forget the riddle, c'mon it was super easy!!). The things she goes through make her a true Heroine and not a damsel in distress.

Tamlin is an unquestionably dreamy hero. Rarely a jerk, mostly sweet, polite and charming. He is a tortured hero, though, so he has some deep scars and secrets. I wouldn't say he's truly unique character, but he's definitely came from the box of good kind of heroes. Well, at least the kind that I like.

Their romance is slow but lovely, passionate and tragic. They have to go through some serious shit and it's just gets worse by the big showdown at the end. Their love, their loyalty is restlessly tested, especially Feyre's. But against all odds, they work perfectly as a couple, which isn't really a wonder with two fantastic characters like them. This is actually a big relief since Sarah built the whole story on this, so it would have been a serious disappointment if I didn't like the romance (*cough* Cealena & Chaol *cough*).

While ACOTAR is really favors the romance lovers, it certainly not lacking in action, fantasy elements and adventure. I hope you have a strong stomach because it has some amazingly disgusting scenes too.

There is a good amount of side characters, it's really a wonder (and good writing) that I remember them all, actually. They all serve the plot, so they're kinda memorable for various reasons. Of course I have my own dead pool/hit list with some of them on it. You know, the usual jerks and evil as fuck characters. However, besides Feyre and Tamlin, there is still a few character I fell in love with. The two most memorable are Lucien And Rhysand. Lucien is Tam's best friend and right hand. Now, I have yet to find a character named Lucien who I don't like (challenge accepted!), but this one truly earned all the manifestation of my fanaticism. Lucien is hilariously playful, sarcastic, loyal beyond loyal and he too had a rough past. He was my source of humor most of the time.

So when I thought that's it, surely no one can top Lucien AND Tamlin, this mysterious, dark, extremely dangerous and powerful douchebag, but still sinfully HOT Fae, a.k.a Rhysand steps into the the story and I was lost and hopeless. Surely, you can see why. Probably a lot of you won't like him, but even Sarah has a big love for him. Because he's not white or black, he's more like a grey character. A bad good-guy. He's very complex and has his own agenda, but is a key character in the story. He also provide a fair amount of humor, so in one word: PERFECTION! (Told you I'm hopeless.) Can't wait to get to know more about him and his court (Night) in Book #2. I'm secretly shipping him and Feyre, even though I love Feyre and Tamlin together, but both pairing has an insane amount of chemistry, I don't know what I'm going to do if this is going to turn out to be a love triangle.

The villain of the book reminded me of Artemisia from 300: Rise of an Empire. They're both sadistic, bloodthirsty cruel bitches. The difference is that Artemisia is more badass in fight. ACOTAR's evil was a bit let down for me at the end. But she was still a great enemy, all in all.

The ending - even though the book's story is sort of wrapped up - is a cliffhanger, of course which already spawned a few fan theories and I'm afraid I might die before we finally learn what the hell is it about that famous scene at the end. It's obvious the series's story is far from over, and even the romance will take some turns in the upcoming books, I guess.

Favorite character(s): Rhysand, Lucien, Tamlin, Feyre
Favorite scene(s): The challenges at the end. Really exciting stuff.

Overall: While ACOTAR is a superb start of a new series, and would still be outstanding as a stand-alone novel, it's fair to say that we only saw the tip of the iceberg. Leaving me madly excited and impatient for the next book. TEAM RHYS!

Hell's Phoenix Release Day Blast

One of my all time favorites is Gracen Miller's Road To Hell series. It's dark, thrilling, sexy as hell (HA!) and totally paranormal. There are angels (and fallen angels), various kinds of demons, freaking dragons and who knows what else in this series!

And the lead? Madison Wescott is a kick-ass mother, wife, friend and lover. And an enemy you really don't want for yourself if you have any common sense. The men of RTH are hot, dark, funny, vicious and extremely dangerous. I'm a little biased here but I'm going to say that the hottest men are the "villains", If you love bad boys, and I mean really B-A-D boys, you're going to melt! ALL the supporting characters make their way into your heart, whether you want it or not, it's impossible not to care about them eventually in the long run. Some bad-ass, some smart, fierce or cute.

This series is really not for the squeamish as it's full of mystery, deceit, suspense, torture, wicked sex, and blood. Also there is some religious stuff, I mean it's about angels and demons and such.

Anyway, did I mention how fucking AMAZING this series is??? I know, I know, it's not from a big publisher, yada yada yada, but trust me - for once - when I tell you it would be a HIT and any big gun would be lucky if they'd publish it. Soooooo let's get to the good stuff!

Road to Hell series #2

Hells become more than just a playground for the wicked...

Going to Hell was supposed to save Madison, but knowing she’s dead because of his failure leaves Nix with only one thing to live for. Revenge. With Micah’s help he learns to use his Messianic power. Anything for Mads has become his mantra, even if it means killing innocents to gather the power he needs to succeed. A tsunami he unleashes on a Gulf Coast city is stopped with magical interference, and Nix is more than surprised to feel Madison in the opposing magic. Can he and Micah set a trap to lure her out?

Pandoras Box...once you open it, there's no turning back!

Madison has done the unthinkable, opened Pandora’s Box to save Nix from Hell. And failed. She’s willing to risk her own life to rescue Nix, but she worries about the welfare of her accomplice in the mission and leaving her son behind. Following up on a lead, she’s ambushed by Nix and Micah. Shocked and hurt to discover Nix has become a willing participant of Hell, she’s more certain than ever she won’t escape the demonic fate her husband outlined for her. While in Hell, she discovers denying the emergence of her succubus is futile, which means getting Nix out of Hell after embracing her inner demon just became a very real dilemma…

“You’ll heal her promptly,” Micah growled, shifting back into his human persona, as he offered his legs as a pillow for her head. She’d have pushed him away if she could’ve managed to contort her body to that angle.

Madison gaped at the blood darkening her jeans and spreading down her thigh. “That hurts way worse than I thought being shot would.”

“I need to get your pants off, Mads, to heal you.” Nix’s fingers went to the snap of her jeans.

She knocked his hands away. “You’ll heal the others first.”

“He shot the main artery in your thigh, Madison. You’ll bleed out before he finishes with them.” Micah compressed his lips together and spoke as if he ground his teeth together. “I’ve lost you twice. I will not lose you again.”

“Death would at least grant me freedom from you!”

Micah’s mouth flattened in displeasure. “Phoenix, I would ask you to do as she requests.”

“Goddamnit, Mads, I swear I’ll heal them immediately after I take care of you.”

Madison glared at Nix. “E kawoja ciok tauqelv.” I refuse your healing. Nix spewed curses in Xapil. “Impressive, you’ve learned how to curse in demon.”

Nix scowled. “Stubborn.”

Madison clenched her teeth in silent mutiny. Nix cupped the back of her head, tugged slightly and kissed her hard on the lips. Excitement zinged through her system. Her attraction to him always presented itself at the most inappropriate moments.

“I find that stubborn trait sexy, baby.”

“Flattery gets you nowhere, Nix.” She winced at the tug against her wounded flesh as he rested her against Micah’s thighs.

“What does?” Nix jerked the hem of one pant leg up and tugged the blade strapped to her ankle out of its harness.

“Good deeds.”

He brandished the knife he’d given her for her thirtieth birthday and grinned. “Does healing them count?”

“No.”

Nix rolled to his feet and leveled her with his stare. “You’re a hard woman to please.”

“Cease the flirtations with my wife.” Micah’s grip on her shoulders intensified. “Heal those bottom-feeders, and then heal her.”
