Early Review ~ Covet by Felicity Heaton

Title: Covet
Author: Felicity Heaton
Series: Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance #1
Length: 103 pages
Release Date: Jan 14th 2012
They’ve burned for each other for two years, the forbidden attraction between them growing each night. Now resisting the sinful desires of their hearts is becoming impossible.

Javier knows better than to succumb to his hunger for Lilah. The mortal female belongs to a powerful aristocrat patron of Vampirerotique, the theatre he runs with three other vampires. A single touch is all it would take to break the sacred law of his kind, sentencing himself to death, but his passion for her has become too fierce to ignore and he will risk everything to make Lilah his.

Lilah has fought her desire for Javier since arriving at his theatre as a servant but each glance he has stolen, his eyes promising pleasure that will satisfy her longing for him, has chipped away at her defences and she can no longer deny her need and her forbidden feelings for the powerful vampire male.

When they find themselves alone in a private box during one of the erotic performances, will they surrender to their passion and live out their wildest fantasies in a night of wicked pleasure or will the threat of Lilah’s master keep them apart forever?

My thougths:
ARC review

There is one rule Javier never intended to break... until now!
Never, ever touch a human owned by another vampire. Don't feed from them, don't give in to the desire for them! Yeah, right! It's easy to tell, but when you are a vampire with a few hundred years behind you and running a Theatre where the preferred sin amongst audience is lust and the Repertoire mostly contains wild, rough sex, blood and death, it's not surprising when you're finally find someone you desperately crave for, and not even the fact, that if you stop fighting with the desire you will sign your own death sentence, will stop you from give in the need and break the sacred law. Javier fought against his hunger for Lilah. The human woman who was sent by her old, powerful vampire owner to work at the Theatre two years ago. Lilah wants him too. They can't resist the temptation to be together anymore regardless of the painful, deadly consequences.

After a month spent away from her, Javier's main excuse to meet Lilah is, that she punched one of the performers and he has to investigate why did she do that. Even though I didn't know why she did that yet, I liked her immediately for this.

Although Lilah's character isn't a "superhero" and a i-beat-the-sh!te-out-of-you chick, she stands up for herself and for others. I liked that after her first sultry affair with Javier, she took the initiative and went after him to make it clear what's going on between them.

Speaking of that affair... MAN!! You'll need a cold shower.. ok, make it two! I swear that's one of the hottest situations I've ever read!! And then I didn't even mentioned the other sweaty bedroom scenes...

As for Javier... Actually I couldn't connect with his character. We learned about his family, his age, but a very old vampire has life experiences, or loss in his life, or something else I think, what he has been doing for hundreds of years? I would have loved to read about his life more. But he's brave and he's a realistic character (as much as a vampire could be, but who knows, right?? ) and I'd have the same reaction as Lilah's when he speaks naughty!! *blushes*

As we can expect from a novella, we didn't get to see the side characters often, but I have to mention Snow! Who runs Vampirerotique - the Theatre - with his older brother, Antoine and Javier and Javier's friend, Callum. He's an aristocrat, pureblood vampire. White hair, icy eyes, dangerous, and he is often in a killer mood... literally! And he is over two thousand years old. My type of guy... I hope he will be the main character in one of the books in the series.

I enjoyed the fight scene with Lilah's owner! It's hard to please me with action scenes, because I'm an adrenaline junkie, and I hardly can get enough of those scenes, but this was well built up.

My other problem (which is the last one) that the main characters fell in love with each other too quickly. Yes I know! Two years isn't quick, and we know, that Javier had taken care of Lilah in those years, but how? How many times they talked? How much did they know about each other? Not so much as it seemed... I would love to know what did he do for her over the past years that made her fallen in love with him so fast.

OVERALL: If you're looking for a HOT, passionate romance story mixed with a bit paranormal, a quick read with a unique plot, I recommend you to read this book! I highly recommend this book on a cold night to warm you up! I really enjoyed it and looking forward to read CRAVE, the next book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series.
